The IRC lamps  are 30% more efficient than standard 50 watt halogen lamps.  While just as bright as  50 watt halogen lamps they also use less energy.  Standard halogen lamps are a fire risk, they require higher temperatures to operate  and dull quickly with age as the reflective backing burns away.

Being of a lower wattage than the old 50 watt lamp,  the 35 watt IRC lamp has  a greatly extended life plus fittings and transformers won’t catch fire.  The 50 watt halogen downlight is so hot it actually burns the lamp fittings in the cieling.  It is now widely regarded as a fire hazard and has been the direct cause of countless house fires.  We simply don’t fit them.
